1. General information
With the aim of training highly qualified scientific and academic personnel, postgraduate and doctoral programs are offered at the National Scientific Center «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, in the specialty D8 «Law» (with a forensic expertise focus).
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has granted the National Scientific Center «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine a license for educational activity in the field of higher education at the third (educational and scientific) level — for the training of Doctors of Philosophy — with a licensed capacity of 40 persons (including foreigners and stateless individuals) in the specialty 081 «Law».
In 2021, the educational and scientific program of the third level of higher education (PhD) «Doctor of Philosophy» in the specialty 081 «Law» was accredited by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. The accreditation certificate is valid until July 1, 2027.
In 2023, the National Scientific Center «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine underwent the electronic licensing procedure, as a result of which the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine established an annual licensed capacity of 10 persons.
In 2025, the National Scientific Center «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine underwent the procedure for reissuing licenses for educational activities at the level of higher education, due to changes in the list of fields of knowledge and specialties for which higher education applicants are trained. As a result, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine established an annual licensed capacity of 10 persons, by Order No. 33l dated April 11, 2025.
2.2. Admission to PhD and Doctoral Programs
The National Scientific Center «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine invites researchers and practitioners in the field of forensic science, as well as those who intend to pursue a future career in forensic expertise, to apply for postgraduate (PhD) and doctoral studies. The goal is to obtain academic degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Sciences with a focus on forensic expertise and research topics within the specialty D8 «Law».

● Information Law;
● Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics;
● Forensic Expertise;
● Operational and Search Activity.
The training of higher education applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy degree lasts 4 years, while the Doctor of Sciences degree takes 2 years.
Training of higher education applicants at the third (educational and scientific) and scientific levels for the purpose of obtaining the Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Sciences degrees is carried out on a contractual basis.
