NSC FSI launches the electronic library of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in the field of forensic science

The library of National Scientific Center «Hon. prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» boasts a unique collection of over 30,000 publications on law, forensic science, and criminology. It is utilized in the training of forensic experts and the development of highly qualified professionals in the field of forensic science and law.
Within the first stage of the project to create a modern electronic library for the Ministry of Justice in the field of forensic science, the scanning of the library collection of the NSC has been initiated. For this purpose, scientific publications stored in various cities of Ukraine and the Main Office of the NSC in Kharkiv have been transported to the Kyiv Branch of the Center.

“The creation of a special electronic database – repository will allow convenient and quick use of the NSC FSI library during training, professional development, and conducting forensic examinations for both the Center’s employees and other state specialized institutions, private experts, as well as other categories of individuals intending to enhance their qualifications”, informed Serhii Tiulieniev, NSC FSI Director.

The digitization of publications is carried out using the BookDrive Mark2 scanner. The materials are stored in a special secured data repository.

This form of digitalization serves as a means of safely utilizing rare editions and booklets that are over 100 years old, and there are more than 50 such copies in the library of NSC FSI.
