Olha Stefanishyna was appointed as a new Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro Atlantic Integration
On Thursday, September 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the appointment of Olha STEFANISHYNA as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine and Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
This decision will strengthen the Ukraine's European integration policy under a full-scale war conditions and the ongoing negotiation process for EU accession.
“We have started negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union, and together with all our allies, we have determined that Ukraine's membership in NATO will be irreversible. Today we face many challenges that go far beyond the European Commission’s seven political recommendations. These are hundreds and thousands of tasks related to regulatory approximation. Therefore, I believe that the key today is to restore and reorient the function of the legal policy of the Ministry of Justice, and to align it with the negotiation process for EU membership” – Olha STEFANISHYNA said during the rostrum speech at the Verkhovna Rada.
It should be recalled that negotiations on accession to the EU begin and end with the "Fundamentals" cluster, which covers fundamental rights, the rule of law, anti-corruption policy, and issues of transparency and accountability. Further progress in implementing these reforms will determine the overall speed of the negotiation process. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine is one of the key players in this direction and its leadership will contribute to the effective and rapid progress of Ukraine.
