Anastasiia Kupriianova: “We Honor the Courage, Resilience, and Dedication Demonstrated Every Day by Ukrainian Forensic Experts in the Performance of Their Professional Duties”

The National Scientific Center “Hon. Prof. M.S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute” of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine organized and hosted the international forum Forensic Science Future 2026 in Kharkiv.
“We deliberately aligned our Forum with the Day of the Forensic Expert of Ukraine and with Kharkiv - a Hero City that has become a symbol of Ukraine’s resilience since March 2022. In doing so, we wish to honor the courage, resilience, and dedication demonstrated every day by Ukrainian forensic experts as they carry out their professional duties,” said the Director of the National Scientific Center, Anastasiia Kupriianova, in her welcoming address to the Forum participants.
Anastasiia Kupriianova noted that since 2022, the Ukrainian forensic science sector has undergone a profound transformation. The focus of forensic work has shifted toward assessing damage caused by destruction, identifying victims, determining the types of weapons used in attacks, and documenting the environmental consequences of the war.
“The new challenge of 2026 is to provide the scientific foundation for developing a methodology for remote psychological assessment. Ukrainian citizens residing abroad should be given the opportunity to obtain, remotely, a forensic psychological expert opinion regarding the moral suffering they have endured,” the Director of the National Scientific Center stated.
The Forum organizers express their sincere gratitude to the leadership of the City of Kharkiv, the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, and the Kharkiv Regional Council for their assistance in preparing and supporting the event. They also extend their appreciation to the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, the Institute for Single Crystals Science and Technology Complex of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and other partner institutions for their valuable contribution to the successful organization of the Forum.
