The NSC «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute» commemorated the 155th anniversary of the birth of Mykola Serhiiovych Bokarius, an eminent riminologist, scientist and Honored Professor.
Serhii Tiulieniev, Director of NSC FSI, opened this event.  “For me, as the Institution Head, it is a great honor to open today’s event dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the outstanding scientist’s birth. Mykola Bokarius has always been, is, and will remain an example to follow in professional activities for all the employees of the Center, as he was a personality who combined the professionalism of a scholar, a practitioner, and a forensic expert, with high human qualities,” the Director noted.

Serhii Anatoliiovych reported that in the morning he participated in the flowerlaying ceremony at the memorial complex at the burial site of M.S. Bokarius, along with Center’s representatives.
Andrii Haichenko, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine, joined the event and delivered a welcoming speech, acknowledging the undeniable contribution of M. S. Bokarius to the forensic science and criminalistics of our country. He expressed gratitude to the leadership and the entire team of the institution for adhering to the traditions initiated by the eminent scientist.
The video message to the Center’s employees from the distinguished descendant of the Professor, his grandson - Serhii Bokarius, who resides in the United States of America, became touching for the team.
With speeches honoring the memory and the results of the multifaceted work of the eminent professor, the following individuals delivered their remarks: Viktor Shevchuk, Head of the Department of Criminalistics at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University; Serhii Romaiev, professor at the Department of Pathological Anatomy and Forensic Medicine at Kharkiv National Medical University; Olena Malykhina, Deputy Chief of the Kharkiv Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination; Ihor Kozachenko, Chairman of the Kharkiv Society of ForensicPhysicians and Criminologists named after Professor Mykola Serhiiovych Bokarius; Valentyn Melnyk, Head of “Melnyk ta Partnery” Law Firm, and Ella Simakova-Yefremian, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at NSC FSI, who presented the monograph published on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of the birth of Mykola Serhiiovych Bokarius (authors: Serhii Tiulieniev, Director of the Center and Vitalii Nikitiuk, Head of the Weapons and Explosives InvestigationSector).

The participants of the event were presented with a documentary film dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the birth of the Honored Professor, which made a great impression on everyone, as it depicted the incredible and thorny life path of Mykola Bokarius.
After the event, the Center’s leadership and the guests laid flowers at the monument to Mykola Bokarius, erected at the entrance to the National Scientific Center «Hon. Prof. M. S. Bokarius Forensic Science Institute».
